Callum Lang – the future is bright

Oldham Athletic loanee Callum Lang has earned himself a fans favourite reputation at Boundary Park and what a future the forward possesses.

Callum Lang has 14 goals and two assist for Latics this season and it’s fair to say he’s got a bright future ahead of him.

The youngster has also got a great attitude as well as a great love for Oldham Athletic and this is evident in his performances.

It was Callum Lang who netted Latics most important goal this season at Craven Cottage as Oldham Athletic beat Premiership side Fulham.

His latest two goals came against Latics rivals Tranmere Rovers, where Callum Lang single handedly ran the visitors defence ragged.

Firstly, Callum Lang chased a long ball out of defence, and managed to cut in from the left and drilled his shot inside the near post from 12 yards.

And then Mohamed Maouche’s pass allowed Callum Lang to run at the Tranmere’s defence and he struck it into the far corner from 16 yards.

Callum Lang had played the first half of the season on right-wing under Frankie Bunn, but former Oldham Athletic manager Paul Scholes and current Head Coach Pete Wild have played the Wigan loanee as a striker and it has certainly paid off.

But, massive credit to Frankie Bunn who was aware of Callum’s talent and secure his move to Boundary Park.

Wigan need to give Callum Lang a chance in their first team because their is a serious talent in the Oldham Athletic loanee.

Before signing for Oldham Athletic  –

The youngster began his career with Liverpool’s academy before joining Wigan in 2013 and he has made three first-team appearances for the Championship club.

Callum Lang caught the eye of Everton scouts after impressing on loan at League Two Morecambe last season where he scored 10 goals in 30 appearances for the club and impressively finished second behind Fulham’s wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon as the top-scoring teenager in England.

The forward’s performances saw him win EFL Young Player of the Month in December.
